The situation is truly magnificent, quiet, with a matchless view over Lago d'Iseo. One of the best hotels we have stayed in. `Very special, with charming service. Returning to the Guide with much praise this year, Guido Anessi's old villa (Relais du Silence), in the Iseo hills, is surrounded by forests and steep slopes. `A very pleasing building, well furnished. Most memorable are the superb staff.' The lake can be seen from some bedrooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms), but not from the restaurant. From our room we_ had an amazing view of a prolonged thunderstorm with clouds racing towards us at our level.' Some bedroom walls are thin. Cuisine is traditional, using lake fish, home-made ham and salami, fresh organic vegetables. The dinners were delicious, with courteous service. A dissenter wrote that the carte did not change during his visit and the large, busy function room has the best views'. And one couple found the piped music at mealtimes `intrusive'. `Breakfasts were excellent, with a juicer that squeezed whole oranges.

Superb. The low cost is amazing, say visitors this year to this muchloved small country Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )on the west side of the very beautiful' Passeria valley in the Dolomites. Not far from Merano, it is a gem with superb views, and the charming Schrott family owners, very much in evidence, are justly proud of their wonderful retreat. Bedrooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms) are fitted in wood, and well appointed; balconies have loungers. Our room, large and comfortable, had stunning views, and the duvets arranged as an artistic sculpture added a touch of humour. The quantity and quality of the food are remarkable: not for slimmers. Half board is very good value: dinner is at least five courses, sometimes eight (no choice apart from main course). The dessert buffet was a feast for eyes and palate. The leisurely meal in superb, surroundings can take up to two hours: it is served from 6.30 to 7.30 pm, but most guests arrive at 6.45. The indoor swimming pool and the restaurant have picture windows with panoramic views; in summer there are Grillabende in the garden. The buffet breakfast is the most wide ranging we have experienced.' There is a full-sized snooker table. Good walks start from the door, outings are organised, and there is sometimes live music.
