Quietly secluded on a wide sandy beach, near the old fishing port of Douarnenez, this lovely Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )(Relais & Chateaux) is owned and run by the Le Coz family. An old Guide favourite, it has unusually good food (Michelin star) for a seaside holiday Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels ). New, qualified praise in 2002 from connoisseurs: `Madame Le Caz junior runs it with panache; her crisp young staff, in black and white uniforms, are friendly. Public rooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms) are quite smart; the spacious bar has sea views from its comfy sofas.' The spectacular tiered conservatory dining room is for residents; the older dining room, with Venetian crystal chandeliers, is for locals. The cooking is robust and good; on half board one has the run of the carte, except for lobster and scallops. We enjoyed roast rouget; oxtail with fried goose liver; monkfish tart with block pudding; delectable sorbets; excellent wines; a good buffet breakfast. Some rooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms) have period Breton furniture. Our sea-facing bedroom was small, with fabrics and bathroom showing their age, but awe-smelling freebies. The sunset was breathtaking. Guests were mostly cosmopolitan, affluent-looking, over-50; jackets were worn at dormer.' One bar is in a thatched cottage. The gardens are itnmacu1rie. and the swimming pool is useful at low tide when the sea goes or out. Facilities for small children are few, and the rapid incoming tide makes caution necessary..
