The Lungarotti family's famous Umbrian wines are served at their t Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )in a small village (`nice but not special') just off the dual iageway from Perugia - three 17th-century Deruta wine jugs disin the lobby give it its name. A couple in 2002 thought it first , with excellent service, good value'. Others wrote: A streamoperation; well worth a visit if you can afford it. Luxurious , reached by a series of passages and ramps; are in traditional : frescoed walls, antiques, rugs on polished tiled floors. Some are in new blocks `that seem to have been bolted on to the inal villa'. Huge public rooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms) have beamed ceilings, thick white Is, archways. In the restaurant, Le Melagrane, Umbrian dishes are ed. `The maitre d' and his staff were so friendly. Food and wine excellent. Despite the heat, the terrace was cool and pleasant. some find the meal `enormous and expensive'. Breakfast is nishingly lavish', and `the courteous staff speak excellent ish. Other delights: English newspapers, excellent showers, a ing fitness centre, well-cared-for swimming pools.' There is a museum and shop, and wine courses are held.

The Linguerri family's unassuming little Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )(Logis d'Italia) is old house in an untouristy area off the Grand Canal by the Accademi easily reached by the waterbus from the airport that goes on to Zat after stopping at St Mark's Square. `Colourful, pretty and un stated, it offers `good value for Venice. Some visitors have found cramped', but others wrote: `Our good-sized bedroom, on the fo floor, had a simple but smart decor, solid wooden furniture, a m floor.' Some rooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms) have a balcony or terrace facing the gar `Pleasant, if not effusive staff.' The food, served in the be restaurant or the ochre-walled courtyard with its canopy of lea and vines, is beautifully cooked, with good house wine, unpret tious service'. The yoi chef, Pierluigi Lovisa, won awards for his specialities, eg, risotto wi cuttlefish ink; spaghetti 1 anchovy sauce. The tinental breakfast is `good Italian standards; plenty extras available. A lift new this year. Children - welcomed.
