Absolutely brilliant. Deserves special mention for location and value. Visitors in 2002 loved this wonderfully quiet 17th-century manor house in a hamlet among the foothills of the Picos de Europa. Earlier reporters wrote of the Swiss proprietor, Leo Benz, and his Spanish wife, Isabel: They deserve to go straight to heaven for giving so many guests a glimpse of paradise. They are charming and helpful. Hearty Asturian cooking by Leo Benz's brother, Carlos, is accompanied by a `good wine list'. `Excellentt service' (meals are taken outdoors in summer). The fixed-price menu is of a high standard. One of the most marvellous views from a Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )bedroom that we have ever enjoyed: Our bedroom was a bit small, but well equipped. Our bathroom was spacious and spotless. Swallows swoop over the small swimming pool, nicely sited, with views, in the `limited but attractive grounds. The parrot kept our child amused.

Nigel and Joann Burch are warm hosts at their small rural Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )in a beautiful, peaceful location offering great walking, wildlife and scenery in the soaring Picos de Europa. Their old priest's house stands in its own small farm on a rocky outcrop on a mountainside a magnificent setting. The large lounge and terraces have wide views across the valley. The pretty bedrooms (similar to Bandung,Jakarta & Bali hotels - 5 star Hotel ( Jakarta Hotels )rooms) have wooden floors and shutters, exposed stone walls, and iron bedsteads; all have a bath a plus for walkers. Outside are steeply terraced garden, sheep, goats, apple orchards. We ate well from a short menu, says a visitor this year, who was impressed by the extremely good value. Another guest wrote: Dinner is simple, with exceptional puddings, a wonderful selection of Asturian cheeses. Wines are well chosen and good value. The Burches will advise on local restaurants and outings. The Sueve Reserve is nearby; also fishing; and the sandy beaches of the Cantabrian coast are just 12 kilometres away.
